OBTAINING
A PERMIT Students who are enrolled in a state approved driver education course are not required to take a written
exam at the License Branch to obtain a driver education permit.
Three weeks before the first day of class we will mail you the required
CDE form to obtain the driver education permit.
You
must also take proof of identification information (list included with CDE form or may be accessed on the BMV website) with
you to get your permit as well as successfully pass an eye exam to obtain a permit.
Driving Privileges The
driver education permit is not valid unitl the student has completed 1 hour of driver education. At this time the student
is legal to practice with a parent or legal guardian and an instructor. Once the student has successfully completed the
driver education course and the permit has been validated the student may drive with the same privileges as an Indiana Learner
Permit.
"I Drive Safely"
Sammers Driving School has partnered with "I Drive Safely" to offer
an online Driver Education option. Once the online course is
completed and a certificate has been received you may register with us to receive a CDE form to obtain the driver education permit and then complete the 6 hours behind the wheel instruction
required by the state to complete the program.
